Flowering period begins April.This is often found in collections as Gymnocalycium lafaldense being named as such in 1924.It grows at up to altitudes of nearly 10000 ft (3000m) in the mountains of its homeland in northern Argentina.It will produces offsets vigorously under the right conditions forming large clumps.The flowers usually open in the afternoon over a period of 3 to 4 days and a mature specimen that has produced many offsets is a fine sight in full flower |
