Astrophytum ornatum

Flowers pure yellow

Native to the states of Hidalgo and Queretaro in Mexico this species was discovered in 1827 thriving on steep rocky slopes.The white flakes on the skin are capable of absorbing moisture and also act as a shield from the scorching sun reflecting it`s rays.Mature plants produce pure yellow flowers up to 31/2 inches across.Flowers appear mid-summer
